The Region II Infertility Prevention Project's goal is to support healthcare professionals in preventing STD-related infertility by promoting science and evidenced-based standards in the planning, implementation and maintenance of targeted chlamydia and gonorrhea screening programs throughout Region II (Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, New York State, New York City and New Jersey).

The Region II Infertility Prevention Project is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Infertility Prevention Project (http://www.cdc.gov/std/infertility/ipp.htm). The purpose of the project is to prevent STDrelated infertility through collaborative efforts of federally funded Public Health Laboratories, Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinics, Family Planning (FP) Providers, and other health care providers throughout the ten Department of Health and Human Services Regions.

The project works to promote innovative, high quality and cost-effective approaches in the prevention of SID-related infertility, especially in adolescent girls and young adult women.
